TEAM POSITIONS AND ROLES


Team Manager (one person)

The role of the Team Manager is to keep the team organized, on track, and keep up to date with what each team member has accomplished or needs to complete. The Team Manager is responsible for being the key spokes person when approaching potential sponsor. The Team Manager is also responsible for creating the poster board and being the spokes person for the team on race day.

Design Engineers (two people)

The role of the Design Engineers is to create a CAD drawing of the team's F1 car and to test it in the wind tunnel simulator. Both Design Engineers need to be comfortable using the Autodesk software and be able to help the Graphic Designer and Resource Manager create the pictures for the poster board if necessary.

Graphics Designer (one person)

The role of the Graphics Designer is to create a logo for the team and colour scheme of the team's F1 car. The Graphic Designer is part of the team that creates the sales pitch to potential sponsor. The Graphics Designer will also be responsible for creating pictures of the team's F1 car as it evolves and pictures of the final version of the team's F1 car (which will be used for the poster board).


Resource Manger (one person)

The role of the Research Manager is to do research that helps in the design of the team's F1 car and ensuring that the car meets technical specifications. The Resource Manager will also be responsible for creating pictures of the team's F1 car as it evolves and pictures of the final version of the team's F1 car (which will be used for the poster board). The Resource Manger is also part of the team that creates the sales pitch to potential sponsor.

Note: All team members should help with the initial creation of the team's F1 car (with sketches, design ideas, etc.). Also, the painting of the vehicle should be done with someone who has some painting/graphic arts experience.

TIME LINES


Autodesk Inventor Tutorial/trial run

February 1 - March 5

Create F1 car using CAD software

March 5 - April 1
NOTE: Hole for axle needs to be 3.80mm in diameter if you are using the axle/steel rod (which is 3.175mm diameter) provided by Mr. Tang. Wheels provided by Mr. Tang are 32.80mm in diameter and have a width of 16.45mm.

Virtual wind tunnel testing of team's F1 car

March 23 - April 1

Ready for 3D printing of team's F1 car

April 1 - EXPORT the team's F1 car file as a CAD drawing (*.stl) with measurements set to millimeters. Send *.stl file in high resolution to Mr. Tang via email. Send each piece as its own file. Car's are to be printed vertically (max height of 15 cm). Verify each piece in Makerbot Print, before sending to Mr. Tang.

May 10 to the Motor Vehicle Safety Investigation Laboratory (80 Rue Noel, Gatineau)
Bring Windows Laptop with Bosch Crash Data Retrieval (CDR) Program

Test Runs of team's F1 Car

April 9 - April 23

Obtaining sponsorship for team's F1 Car

April 9 - May 1

Painting of team's F1 Car

April 23 - May 28

Race Day (team's F1 car ready to race and poster presentation/display)
